The car will turn over but cut off immediately if the gas pedal is not pressed.I don't now where the fuel filter is located at or if it's serviceable.

Check and test the idle air control motor, EGR and PCV valves, throttle position and manifold absolute pressure sensor and get back with some testing results so we continue to assist.

what would be the proper way to check all of that listed. i tried getting a diagnostic ran on the car but it will not work unless the car is able to run by itself

The fuel filter could be on the fuel line if not its in the fuel tank.

Replace the idle air control motor/valve its job is to maintain the idle speed at all times without using the gas pedal

don't know if this will help any but when i actually get the car on the highway and i am driving the brakes are very stiff.

Rescan the computer with or without a check engine light. if there's any code/s comeback with it-whether it can idle or not-

You need to check and test what I've suggested earlier and report all your testing results so I can determine what's really going on here.

i figure out what the problem was the intake manifold snapped where it connects to the carburetor, new problem though, i replaced the intake manifold but it snapped again i need to figure out what keeps causing the intake manifold to snap
