Disarming Anti -Theft System

Anti -theft system can be disarmed by unlocking river's or passenger's door using key or remote control switch. System can also be disarmed by inserting key in ignition switch and turning to ACC or ON position. System will be disarmed if while indicator light is on, driver's or passenger's door is unlocked. System can be deactivated by turning key in driver's or passenger's door in either direction (lock or unlock) or by using key to unlock luggage compartment.

I tried the suggestions you gave with no prevail. Is there something else that may have happened as well.

Can you describe to me the present situation. Is the alarm sounding and lights flashing when battery is connected? Try turning ignition to ON before connecting the battery terminals. Did you test if the starter is working? There is an Electronic Timer Alarm Control System ECU mounted behind fuse/relay block, located behind left kick panel. Disconnect it to see if you are able to start engine.

Check the following fuses. # 4, 8, 10 and 13. Here are the wiring schematics.

When I turn the key the anti-lock light comes on. Sometimes the alarm will sound. I am not sure if the starter works but it did before the battery change. If I disconnect the alarm timer and the car starts should I take it in to have it looked at? If it doesnt work then I will take it as well. I dont want to take up too much of your time on this issue. Thanks for your help so far.

Don't worry about taking up our time. We are here to help and if a job is half done, we would not feel good about it.

If you are able to start without the alarm control unit plugged in, you have physically disarmed the system. since you do not have a remote, maybe the dealer can assist in getting the remotes and reprogram them to work.

Alternatively you might want to consider installing a different after market unit. The model system is not equipped with immobiliser so is easier to work with.

Alarm system can be replaced or bypassed.

After disarming alarm the car still will not start. As soon as i turn key nothing happens and the anti-lock light comes on. Could it be a different problem? The alarm is not going off anymore.

Did you try to lock and unlock the drivers door with the original key? Sometimes copies don't work for disabling the anti-theft system.
Have you tried replacing the Alarm Control Module yet? It sounds like it could be shorting out.

Yes, it is possible to be caused by other things.

1. Are the dash indicator lights showing with ignition switch turned on ans while cranking?

2. If yes to above, use a remote wire to starter solenoid and with ignition switch turned ON, apply voltage to the wire to crank the starter, does it crank and start?

I know this topic is old but I'm having the same problem.I have a white galant & a black one.I have a key to the one that I don't drive because of the motor(black one).The key is a regular key without the chip but it will start that car but not the white one.I got it to turn over but the green light flashes and it won't start.What could be done besides pay $300 for a new key.They both are 1999 Mitsubishi Galant ES
