Only after refueling, (1/4 to 1/8 tank remaining)car hard to start for about 30 seconds, then runs only with pressure on accelerator for another 30 seconds or so, then runs perfectly until next fuel stop. Once in a while, at very low speed or at idle, engine will just die with no warning, but restarts with a tap of the key. No codes are returned with scan, and I've added alcohol type water treatment with no change. I'm about to replace the fuel pump/filter assy. on speculation. I would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions you could offer me.

Couple thoughts.

First when you fill it do you stop when it hit the fist click of the pump? IF not try that.

IF the problem persists, I would think that there is a valve not opening when it should. Might try to start it with the cap off, I would think this should allieve a restriction and confirm this thought. There is a limiter valve in the vent hose that should prevent this.

Before you get to you next fill up. Stop somewhere and simiulate the time it takes to refill, and then restart the car. This will separate the possiblility of it being related to the reifill.
