will the sensor work properly until the engine reaches operating temp? does heat have an effect on the operation such as a limitation in travel of the plunger. what is the distance the plunger will travel

i have no idea how far it will travel, moves depending on engines command from the pcm. from full open to full close may be half an inch?

everything about the engine will affect how the pcm controls the iac. if the engine is warm then the pcm makes it stay a little bit more closed then if the engine was cold. also helps prevent the vehicle from dieing out and backfiring when you go from WOT to closed throttle.
