After removing the nuts, how do you remove the pins to remove the heater box to replace the heater core.

Hi KCRD2,

Pry off the spring clips and you can get the housing apart.

Thanks for your reply/help. I have already taken out the pins that I think you are talking about (see picture) and I still cannot figure out how to get the heater box out.

Hi KCRD2,

Yes, those are what I meant.

The housing are two pieces clipped together along the centre joints and you need to pry it open a little bit at a time. Take care not the break the casing and make note of the vents flaps.

OK, thanks for the reply. I took one of the small clips on the back left side towards the firewall. Is there one on the back right side?? I can't feel one back there....KC

I think that I now see how to pry apart the housing carefully but I have a few more questions to ask.

1. How do you pry the housing away from the firewall when the plastic threaded studs that the unit is bolted to are sticking out approximately 1 and a half inches.

2. As I pry the lower unit from the upper unit it looks like there is one piece inside the heater unit that is attached to one or the other (does that part come out with the upper part or the lower part??)

3. Once you get the lower unit out, can you replace the heater core with the upper unit still in the vehicle?? Thanks for all your help....KC

Hi KCRD2,

I thought you already had the unit out.

If the unit is not out, you won't be able to take it apart. You need to have the dash out.

The vents willl come off, no difference upper or lower.

Ther should be another nut outside on the firewall.
