1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse 4 cyl

where is the iac unit located on a 1997 mit. eclipse gs.
needs to be cleaned or replaced but dont know where to start. can a weekend warrior on cars do this job.

Hi mcornelius,

The IAC is attached to the throttle body and it can be easily cleaned without removing it.

Remove the air intake hose and spray some carb cleaner into the lower port immediately inside the throttlew body and allow to soak for a few minutes.

Repeat a few times and the IAC shuld be sufficiently clean to work correctly.

Take note that initial starting might be difficult due to the presence of excessive amount of carb cleaner.
