My Eclipse starts better when cold. If I run it to operating temperature, shut it off, then restart right away it starts fine. If I leave it set for 5 minutes or more, but not long enough to cool completely, it churns for a minute or so before it starts. I noticed this several months ago. I replaced the fuel pump last year.

When you shut the engine off, is the fuel line from the tank supposed to stay full for the next start? It sounds almost like a vapor lock. Any suggestions?

Hi psudoh,

After shutting off the engine, there will be residual pressure in the system and it is maintained by the fuel pump and regulator.

When the ignition switch is turned on, the pump would operate briefly to boost up required pressure.

You should have a look at the fuel regulator.
