oil is leaking from my oil cap---what causes this? Oil cap seems to be fine should I replace this first or?

Hi there,
There should be a seal in the bottom of the cap (rubber "O" ring) it may have dislodged and fallen out, or has crushed past it usable thickness as a seal, or the cap may be cracked, Check for seal, replace seal or replace cap,

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Everything looks fine with the cap but I will replace it. Also seems to be excess pressure. Could the pcv valve need replacing. Some sludge build up may have occurred in past?

Hi there,
if the crank case pressure is a bit high and the PCV is not working as it should than replace it to be safe, high crankcase pressure will cause a failure in other seals as well so best to make sure all is working as it should.
