Hi, i bought this car approximately 3 weeks ago. A couple days ago i started to notice a metallic clicking noise coming from underneath the car. It was all local driving no more than 3 miles. Once i returned home i turned the engine off and stepped out of the car and i could hear the noise. I’m not sure if this is normal due to metal expanding or if it’s catalytic converter. I would appreciate it if someone could advise. I've attached a video. thank you

I don't see the video, its takes awhile on mobile so please allow time for it to load. Yes, it does sound like the exhaust system though.

Thanks for the video. yes, that is the catalytic converter and exhaust system cooling down which is normal, can I ask if the engine is overheating? Also, does the engine seem to have normal power output? If the converter is getting clogged up it can get hotter than usual. This guide can help you check it:

I assume you have never heard this noise from the car before. Just to let you know this noise can be normal.

Thanks for getting back. The car drives all fine no difference in power output. The temperature seems all fine based on the gauge. It stays at 80. The noise was only noticed a few days ago but it seems to happen if the car has been driven as little as a couple of miles. I wasn’t sure if that was normal. The car has been booked in with a local garage so I’m hoping if there’s any issues, they’ll be able to spot it. Thanks

Sounds good, I don't think anything is wrong with the car, but you never know. Please let me know what they say.
