My '95 Merc. Villager wont start. It started overheating, then started running rough, then it died on the road. It has 126,000 miles on it and it is a 6 cyl. engine. I though I siezed it but a couple of weeks ago I got it started and it ran for 30 mins. No smoke and it sounded great. I turned it off and it hasn't started since. After I turned it off, all the hoses flattened out like there was a vacuum effect going on. It turns over, but it wont start. Is this a cat. con. problem. I'm puzzled by the flattened hoses.

Take a rubber hammer and pound on the converter and muffler, any rattle? Then check the oil level see if you are at the right level, not over full!. If that's ok disconnect the exuast and see if it starts...
