what would be the best method & cheapest in locating & repairing this problem.
Also is there some type of leak stop for coolant leaks like lucas stop leak for power steering leaks?

Hi there, you will have to get the cooling system pressure tested to find the leak first, then you can look at options to repair, as far as stop leaks in a can, i never advise to use then as they are designed to swell seals to slow leaks, but it will affect good seals and can cause extra problems, they are are a temporary fix only and not designed to be a total solution.
