I have a 1995 mercury sable 3.8 v6 with 80,000 miles that started having a loud knocking sound that seems to becoming from inside of the air intake manifold. Is there anything inside that would make that noise? Not only is it loud, but you can also feel it with your hand. This condition is not affecting performance. If so, what could it be and what will be the estimated financial damages? The manifold looks pretty easy to get to, is this something that could be accomplished by a backyard mechanic?
