horn and cruise control stopped working?

There is a smart junction box that sounds like it not working here is the location so you can replace it. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what happens.

We have a 2004 mercury sable 3.0 engine, 69,000 miles and automatic. our cruise control will not work and we have no brakes lights and back up lights are on constantly. There is no smells, leaks or noises. Any suggestions.

Try these switches, 1 is the brake position, and the other is the cruise deactivator, for the revrse lights check the neutral switch on the top of the tranny

if the light doesn't come on when button is pressed for cruise control is your fuse blown and if so where is it on a 1998 mercury

Unbelievably, there is no actual specific fuse for the Cruise Control on this car. It is a combination of fuses for different things that send power to the Cruise Control module.
If nothing else is wrong, then you have a problem with some system within the Cruise Control Servo or related gear.

To do a Self-test to see what is possibly wrong, Go into your car, and with the parking brake enabled, and the Key Off, HOLD the "OFF" button on the Cruise Control.

Turn the key to "ON" where the lights on the dash turn on, but the engine doesn't start.
Within 5 seconds, press on the Cruise Buttons "ON" ;
Then "RES", "SET", then "ACEL" Count the number of flashes you get after pressing the keys in that sequence. It may take practice to get them all in the right order, it's sort of like playing that old game SIMON.

1 Flash means you did it right, and the subsequent flashes 2-5 will tell what is wrong with the thing.
Get back to me on what it says.

I fixed mine, how's yours coming along?

1995 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Automatic 83,000 miles

1. The cruise control and horn both stopped working. checked the fuse (big & silver, not small colored plastic) and it was HOT. replaced it and the new one burnt out after just a short drive.

2. Broke a plastic peice that went to the vacuum when trying to fix the radiator and after that car was "choking" i guess, jolting when coming out of low speed left turns. Got the piece fixed and now the car does this jolting thing when leaving a light or making a low speed turn, usually when i try to accelerate too fast but sometimes does it regardless. friends and boyfriend worry for my life in the car but i can't afford much to fix it. what could it be?

Anytime a fuse blows shortly after replacing it, this is a tale-tale sign of a short on that protected circuit. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a damaged wire or two in the steering column area, perhaps under the horn pad. Remove the pad and inspect the wiring there.


2.)

Is the check engine light on?

There could be many things causing this but starting with the basics would be a dirty fuel filter and weak spark plugs.
