I replaced both Ball joints, sway bar links, and outer tie rod ends 8 months ago. Now I am getting a popping noise from the front, maybe right side. I'm thinking it is either the CV Axle, strut, strut mount, or inner tie rod, but do not know the proper way to diagnose them. I jacked the car up and tried moving the cv axle to check for play, and it seemed fine. The boots are not cracked or damaged, or dry rotted. I put the tire back on and grabbed the tire at 12 and 6, and got no movement, but when I grabbed it at 3 and 9, I got some movement, maybe an inch either way. What else can I do to help be sure what I need to replace before I start replacing parts that don't need to be replaced? I am fairly handy at replacing things, but not at diagnosing, and I have already invested $700 in parts just for the front end.
