2001 Mercury Sable Engine light and stalls when idle

MY 01 Merc Sable check engine light came on, right after the light came on the car begin to idle high and low when you stop. At a red light, stop sign, etc...
It recently began to cut off because the idle was so low when sitting, it drives and seems to run fine when moving. Please help

Last tune-up?

1st thing to do here is get the computer scanned for OBD2 code/s this will indicate what's causing the CEL to come on. Autozone provides this service free of charge.

Idle fluctuating could be the idle air control valve, TPS and MAF sensors, also check the fuel pressure to include the PCV and EGR valves.
