Electrical problem
2001 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 3.0 miles
I have a 2001 Mercury Sable. It got stuck in the mud and after attempting to get it out, the transmission light went on, and the car had no power. It would not shift into gears, and the RPM was skyrocketing. At first I thought it was a transmission problem. I was quoted for a new tranny from several different mechanics and the last one told me it was not the transmission but an electrical short, instead. I tested his theory and checked all of the fuses related to the transmission, and Fuse 128 in the front box is shorting out. I replace the fuse, and about 30 miles later it will short out again. The car will start, and drive, but will not shift past first gear. Do you think the short is in the wiring harness somewhere or could it be right in the terminal?
