My 2000 Mercury Sable has a problem where the coolant light comes on when idling in traffic or driving in stop/start conditions.
The coolant light remains on until the car is re-started.
I realized after a couple of weeks I do NOT here the radiator cooling fan running at all.
My dealer said that the coolant sensor might be faulty but he wasn't sure. He said to let it run until the fall when I was due for a coolant flush.
My coolant level is fine and my engine temperature never rises above mid range.
I have had trouble with my dealer diagnosing problems before. They mis diagnosed another problem and it seems they just are now (this year) using the computer codes and replacing parts. I am wondering if this keeps repair service charges higher as I had 2 visits for the enginer light which both resulted in repairs.
