1999 mercury sable 3.0 dual overhead cam

1999 Mercury Sable 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my husband removed my water pump tp replace with new theres a some sort of housing or spacer that bolts to the water pump with 7 bpolts . well that part broke and that part bolts to the engine with 4 bolts i dont know what its called and no1 seems to kmow what im talking anout if u can please help thank you
