1996 Mercury Sable fan blower

My blower fan is not working on any speed setting, how do I trouble shoot? May or may not be related. The door sensor switch was not terminating when closing door, I was thinking because the interior light was staying on that perhaps it was an overload - checked fuses under dash and they're good... any suggestions.
