1995 Mercury Sable alarm does not turn off

1995 Mercury Sable 6 cyl 114000 miles

The remote will not turn off the car alarm and the key does not sturt the engine.

try this :
disconnect the battery
turn key in ignition to on position
reconnect the battery



or look under the steering wheel area for a small switch for the alarm system
