After pulling into our driveway, our car shut-off while idling briefly. Car would not restart. so I checked the Fuel Pump Emergency Shutoff switch in the trunk. It was not activated.
I replaced the fuel filter. While I had the filter off, I had my son put the ignition key to the "on" position while I had my finger over the fuel line (pump discharge side.) There was no pressure. I assumed the fuel pump had gone bad, so I replaced it. But after installing the new fuel pump iand getting everything hooked back up, the car would not restart, and the new fuel pump would not pump either.
After bench checking the old fuel pump, I found that it worked when power was applied to it. Because of that, I believe the car has an electrical problem.
Any ideas on a possible cause or solution?
