1992 Mercury Sable transmission shifting

I am having a shifting problem with my Mercury Sable. When the transmission is cold it shifts like it is supposed to, but after it warms up, it will not shift out of first gear. I carried it to a shop that flushed the transmission and changed the filter. It did fine for the next 2 days, but then I was going uphill and when it tried to downshift, the transmission shifted from overdrive right into first gear. Any thoughts on what my be wrong with it? Youmay have a speed sensor that has a temperature problem. Also, check the black and white electrical connectors on the transmission. One is on top of the chain cover, and the other is on the rear underneath the shift cable bracket. Remove the air cleaner and ductwork for access.
