I have a 1968 Mercury 100 2 wheel drive pickup with a 300 6 cyl 3 spd STD. It has around 150,000 miles. The problem is that there is no spark.
The battery is good 1100 cranking amps. The compression id good the highest 174 lowest is 150.
All accessories work and have power. The engine cranks over but does not fire. All grounds have been cleaned. There is 12 volts going to the pos side of the coil from the ignition switch. With 1.5 ohms across the +, - terminals of the coil and 9,330 ohms across - or + terminal to coil wire terminal. Coil is not shorted out by touching leads to termals to the case
The distributor cap shows no arcing and the points are not burnt or pitted. The condenser test ok. Tested coil by connecting a jumper wire from the - side of coil and rapidly touching it to a good ground with the coil wire about 1/4 " from a clean ground with no spark. There is no one around were I live tests coils and its $60.00 for a new one and with no return on it.
