Hi and thanks for responding. I recently had a battery die on me and i replaced it. My friend told me to start the car and unplug the positive to see if it was the alternator that was bad. When i did it the car stopped running. Is a bad alternator the only reason this could happen??

Also, i recently had a new compressor installed, could this new problem possibly been caused by the mechanic that installed my compressor?? Thank you for your time.

well.. yes and no.. umm if you dont know what your doing you could (over tighten) the belt to the alternator and i have no idea if the alternator has an internal or external voltage regulator.. if i have to guess since ford/mercury is still using stone age electronics i would guess it would be external and that you could replace very easily if you could find it.
