2000 Other Mercury Models ignition is locked

my 2000 grand marquis steering column is locked, the key will go into the ignition but will not turn, the steering is in a locked position, gear shift wont move, i have jiggled and wiggled everything no luck, please anyone can you help?

Thank you for the donation.

While turning the steering wheel away from the locked position, wiggle and turn the ignition key. This would release the load on the lock and allow easier turning of the ignition key. If it still fails, the ignition lock is bad and has to be replaced.
