My brother & I had taken the top-end off the engine (removing the plenum & fuel rail) to determine the source of a fuel leak. We put it all back together (or so we thought) after we discovered the leak was from the tank itself. Anyways, before the "repair", the transmission worked fine. Afterwards, it won't shift past 2nd gear. I discovered (part of) the problem; an adapter had fallen out from the right rear of the valve cover...which the other end starts under the plenum. I reconnected all this, but I still have no 3rd+ gear. The transmission fluid & filter have been changed (and, btw, the fluid was not burnt, no metal chips in the pan.) NOW, I'm wanting to know if the air pump is at all related to the function of the transmission, and if so, how? Please help me, as I'm going through more gas than can afford.
