1999 Mercury Mystique Mercury Air Bag reset?

1999 Mercury Mystique 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 99 Merc. Mystique that has both dash airbags blown. Would these being set off cause the car to not run long after being started and not shift into gear? Is there some sort of reset that has to be done and is that something a rookie can accomplish?

If car starting and running than the fuel shut off switch is OK
need to do more checking and code searching for the reason and why its stalling
air bag light ??
safety and will not cause car to stall after starting and running
