On startup the engine revs up to about 2200 RPM and then settles down to about 1200 RPM. If it is placed in Park/Neutral it will go to 1500 RPM and then settle down at 1200 RPM.
If you try to drive it before the RPMs come down it will surge. During low acceleration it takes some time to get up to speed. Once it has gotten up to speed it will go fast and smooth.
The O/D off light comes on also after the engine has warmed up for about 10 miles or so.
