I've had this issue for about a year on my 2000 Mountaineer and the dealership and 4 other mechanics can't figure out what it is. When I'm comming to a stop my brakes make a faint whir/rub sound, as if they were warped (like rub...rub...rub etc). And when I do come to a complete stop my brakes make this eeerrrckk grind sound, and make that same sound when I let off to accelerate. Does it even 100X worse when it's wet/raining out. We have another 01' Explorer and a bunch of other Expl/Mounty's we've owned before along with an 05' Lexus LX470 and none ever made this sound.
It's driving me nutz. Everytime they've checked, the rotors look fine, calipers are fine etc. And I don't want to buy new rotors and everything if I'm still going to have the same problem.
