The back left side window will not go down... All other windows work using either the main window console on the driver door or the switch at the door itself. Only the back left window will not go down by using either switch..main console on driver's door or switch at the door. Could possible issue be fuse, relay, motor or electrical connection?

most likely problem will be a faulty window motor itself, not wiring. if you remove the door panel you can put a test light across the 2 terminals at the window motor and operate the switch and if the light lights up then for sure the motor is bad. you can also slam the door while holding the window switch down and see if that jars free a stuck window motor.

Here is how you test the motor and window wiring diagrams so you can see how it works with the fuse location as as well along with how to change the window motor out if it turns out it is bad.

None of the power windows will not go down at any window position from any window switch. I checked the fuses and relays. All good. Could it possibly be the master window switch?

I will look for a broken wire. It is not the lock on the switch unless it is faulty. Thanks

When I got into the vehicle I tried to roll down the passenger window and both the driver and passenger buttons are stuck. Resulting in the window not rolling down. It was in a matter of 30 minutes because I had rolled it up before going into the store and when I got back in both buttons wouldnt move and the window is stuck. What happened and how would I go about fixing it. Please help me because I am pregnant and I need my fresh air. =)

If the switch is stuck, chances are it needs replaced. It isn't too hard to do. The wors part is removing the door panel. The switch just plugs in.

I have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. Started with the steering wheel controls working wrong, windows won't go down, check engine light is on, says door ajar when it's not, heated seats won't heat, now it's saying check transmission.

Have the trouble codes checked, manufacturer specific as well as generic codes. See if the code points in any particular direction? If you want to test one system start with the power windows, check voltage and ground at wiring harness, hinge side of door.

All power windows on my 2002 mercury mountaineer stopped working at once. I have no power at the connectors that plug into the swithes. The owners manual doesnt say which fuse controls them. The ground is good at the switch. I tested all the bigger fuses with my tester (20 amps and up)which were all good and i dont have any shorts. Is there a relay or something I'm missing? It has 60 k on it and its got a 4.0L v6

Hey julius,
That year merc had two wiring schemes for the PWs, an early and late design. Both have a 60 amp fuse (#6) in the pwer junction block under the hood.

Then there is either a 30 amp fuse (#47) in the same box or a circuit breaker on the way to the central junction box.

Both have a 15 amp (#17) fuse in the central junction box. They also share an accessory delay relay.

The relay is controlled by a Gem (generic electronic module) module. I remeber seeing something about these going bad because of a leak in the windshield cowl on explorers.

All power goes to the master switch first and then to the individual switches on the doors.

If you are getting no power at the master switch, check the fuses/circuit breaker first, swap out the relay next, and then check the Gem module.

If that doesn't work following wires looking for a short is the next step. PITA!

Good hunting and let us know. :)

Power windows not working. Tester light comes on when I touch one of the sixty amp prongs under the hood in the power distribution center but not the other. The relay and the fuse under the driver side dashboard also test positive.
