Engine stalls on the Road

Tell me is the check engine light on? How does it stall does it just die or does it loose power and then eventually die? It sounds like a crankshaft angle sensor.

The check engine light is not on. It is not gradual. It is like I turned the key off.

Ok so do you have a digital multi meter? I would like to check the camshaft sensor. Thanks

I took it to my mechanic and he said he connected it to his computer and nothing came up. Is that what you mean?

Ok that just means there are no codes we already knew that because the check engine light isn't on. Now what I would like to do is check the camshaft sensor.

I have a CarMD Handheld Tester. I don't think that's what you're asking for so the answer is no.

Ok we either need to get our hands on a digital multi meter or have the cam sensor checked. It could have corrosion on the plug or not be sending the signal correctly or? Here is a pic of a inexpensive multi meter. If you are not comfortable doing these tests please just let me know and I will let you know what tests I would run if you would rather have a shop do it ok.

I don't know enough about mechanics to do the tests so please tell me what to tell my mechanic.

Ok if you would have him unplug the camshaft sensor and ohm it. Get back to me with what you find and I will look it up to see if it is in spec.

I talked to my mechanic about ohm-ing the cam sensor and he didn't understand. So we replaced the sensor and that fixed the problem your hunch was right thank you so much for your help I love this site.
