Electrical problem
2003 Mercury Mountaineer 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic

I have replaced the window lift motor and the window switch to the front passenger door. The window still does not go up and down. I tried them in the rear door and they work there. If the switch in the driver door was bad, would that cause the window motor not to work? What else to I need to check?

All windows work from master switch and I have not seen any exposed wires. I have not checked with a meter, just visual. I was wondering if master switch could be bad, or if there is a fuse or relay to check?

Hello,

Yes the master switch is most likely bad becasue the entire systems power runs through the main control switch located at the drivers door. Here is a guide that will give you an idea on how to test it.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/electric-window-repair

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

and

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-a-test-light-circuit-tester

Here is how it will be to change the switch in your car and I will include the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works. (below)

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

All the windows are not working in both directions? If so, start by inspecting the wires between the driver's door hinges to see if any are frayed or broken.

Did they all stop working at the same time, or did anything noteworthy happen leading up to this?

I have looked at the sixty amp fuse under the hood it is okay I believe the thirty amp relay under the hood is also working properly I am getting power to the fifteen amp fuse that people online say controls the power windows in the driver's compartment. I am also getting power to the blue wire with the black stripe leading into the drivers cluster I cannot figure out why my windows are not working.

Activate the driver's window switch while measuring the voltage on the black wire at that switch assembly. All voltage measurements should be done with that switch plugged in, to be accurate. Back-probe through the back of the connector next to the wires.

Please understand the moderators on this website answer questions in our spare time so we dont always get right back to you.So now key in the run position at the drivers master window switcb with the passenger front window switch in the up position you should have power on the white wire with a yellow stripe.Same switch down position tan wire with a light blue stripe should have power.

I really need you to start your own question it's way too confusing for the people going back and fourth answering the questions and the other users looking for answers to have more then one question per post.Even if it's a similar question.Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Power window controls on drivers door will operate all 4 windows. However each door controls will not operate individual windows. Fuses seem to be good. What else can I check?
