how do you find tdc? my book says roll #1 cyl up and then crank it to the mark on the harmonic balancer. is the mark 0 degrees on the balancer or the cut out part on the balancer

does your harmonic balancer have 1 notch in it marked with white paint, and then numeral notches???? it will be the notch marked with white paint is cyl 1 at tdc....
