2001 Mercury Marquis 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 71700 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
This started about a month ago. When driving the Marquis at around 40MPH or less I can hear a squeeking sound coming from, I believe, beneath the car. Once I hit the freeway it goes away. I just had the tires rotated and an oil change, so I don't know what it could be.

Just moved to the Bay Area and I had to make a sharp U-Turn that I've never had to do on a narrow road. The car made a loud clinking noise when the wheel was turned completely to the left and I was stepping on the gas to make the U-Turn. I thought the car was going to die but once the car completed the turn the noise went away.

Any help on these two sporadic noises would be helpful.
Thank you!

Thanks for the info, I will definitely take it in and will know what to ask for.

Piece of cake here. Replace your worn out driveshaft u-joints. The clunk you mentioned tells me that one of them is about to break. Don't put it off or you WILL get stranded.
