I have a 1994 grand marquis and my check engine light keeps coming on. the problem is when i turn the car off and turn it back on the check engine light does not come on so the hand held ford code reader that i bought will not read any code. Is there anyway other way to figure out the problem besides taking it into the repair shop.

Hi pmo22, Thank you for the donation. One of the way to test the code is to drive until the MIL shows and without turning the engine OFF, connect the scanner to check. Alternatively you can use an analog VOM or the MIL to retrieve the codes.
