1985 Mercury Marquis Cutting off while stopping

Engine Performance problem
1985 Mercury Marquis V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

as you can see i have a 1985 grand marquis and it cuts off when i stop a a stop sign or red light. It also shuts off when i put it in reverse. my cousin thinks its a clogged fuel injector. what do you think? would a clogged fuel injector do that or could there be another problem?

Many things can do it, plugged fuel filter, vacuum leak, needing a tune up, low fuel pressure... Has the check engine light ever come on?

no the light hasnt came on, i changed the filter last year got a tune up in summer of 08, i also forgot to say it backfire a little.

If you are getting a back fire, first I would check for vacuum leaks. Also, does it seem any worse when it is damp outside?

no not really. it seems to run good for a short period but then starts acting up.
