Hi everyone I am new here so please be patient. I have a 2002 mercury cougar that has 72,000 miles on it, automatic. 2.5L V6. The car has ran great ever since I purchased it a year ago. About 3 months ago it started jerking while I was idling. There is also a very small ping noise every 4-5 seconds when the car is in motion. I took it to the first dealership the replaced 1 spark plug and a sensor and said that it was the bad spark plug. Well that worked for a week and the jerking started all over again. Now last week I took it to another dealership and they replaced all the spark plugs they said they were "tracking"?? So that fixed the problem for a day. I am going nuts because nobody knows what is wrong and their guess taments are going to cost me money I dont have. It feels like powerloss but then I question whether or not it is the transmission. I have read where other people say it is the coil pack but I am really not sure. Any suggestions??? Please help. Thank you

Do you know if any codes were set?

What sensor was replaced? DPFE?

The plug problems are probably a symptom of the problem.
