I just got back from a trip where I was gone for 3 months. I got in my cougar and the brakes are metal on metal the rear brakes that is. My GF told me they have been metal on metal grinding when she put on the brakes for 2 months. She just ignored it. Now I'm worried that more than break damage might have taken place. I'll get it fixed ASAP what repair costs should I be thinking about? Dollar amount and other related costs?

Thanks!

Hello Thanks for the donation. Below is rough estimate for parts and labor to resurface rear rotors and replace pads. These are the components that are affected by the issue at hand. Please note that this is just an estimate and costs will vary depending on location and exact produt brands you choose.

thx.

Sounds right. Apart from the noise when I hit the brakes will it damage the car if I wait a couple of days or should I not drive until I can get it fixed?

It will not hurt anything other then the components I listed above in estimate and also the braking distance between vehicles and stop lights needs to be increased while driving until issue is fixed. This will give you more time to slow the vehicle with the worn out brakes for safety reasons.

I hope this helped.
