I have a 1995 Mercury Cougar 3.8l, it has a 1997 engine in it. Recently it was blowing oil out of the timing chain cover. I have had that replaced along with the timing chain, water pump, timing chain pullys, distributor cap and rotor and all the gaskets having to do with a timing chain and cover replacement. After I picked the car up from the mechanic it started blowing a lot of white smoke from the exhaust, it didn't do this before. The car is not running hot and is not suffering any performance issues although it does seem to be using an excessive amount of gas. The exhaust smells very rich(smells like exhaust times 10). also there is a lot of water in it. The water is very sooty. There is no antifreeze in my oil I checked the dipstick and the oil cap. The car is not leaking any fluids from the engine. Any help would be appriciated.

Take it back immediately.
Sounds like a head gasket.
Ask them to check over their work.
