1991 Mercury Cougar odometer

i have a 91 Cougar LS and the odometer use to stop and start ramdomly. Recently we changed the oil , and did nothing we don't do on a weekly basis under the hood. the odometer has not wooked since. any ideas?

never mind guys i found it(i guess some times it takes a girl) but i have another problem. my brake pedal tends to go all the way down on its own. sometimes all by its self and other times i just touch it lightly. master cylinder? brake booster? other? please help me! its almost winter and that kind of problem would make a life or death difference when snow is on the road.
