1989 Mercury Cougar headlight assembly removal/replacement

Make sure the headlamp switch and time delay switch are in the off position. Raise hood and disconnect wiring from each of the two bulbs.

Using snapring pliers, spread the three metal retainers attaching lamp assembly to grille opening panel, from the rear of panel. Pull straight upward to disengage and remove metal retainers. Remove the lamp assembly from vehicle, then remove the bulbs. Reverse the procedure to install. Turn the lights on to check for proper operation.
