Brand new does not = defect-free nor does it = quality part nor does it= proper installation.

Having siad that most wet problems are ignition related. It may be uncovered by misting water onto varios electrical componens whie it is running. Start at the distributor and work you way to the plugs and see if you get a runnibility reaction.

Thanks for the reply!!! I should have added that I am a technician myself and I have done the misting trick with no result!!! I have scanned for codes and there are none!! Is it possible that the ignition coil is breaking down in wet weather? Although it has not been duplicated with misting!!! I also have seen on some Mazda 323's with the same engine that they have developed a similar problem but it was in cold weather and the thermo-static idle air control motor did not function!!!!! It's a mystery to me!!!

The coil may certainly be a possiblilty. If you can get it to act up, put a spark tester on it to see what happens.
This may be a ground problem also. Try fabricating a new'jumper' ground harness to supplement the poor ground situation with this model of car. If high resistance is found in g105 and g106 circuits: both of these grounds are located at the thermostat housing. both of these grounds are main eec grounds and as such are critical to eec performance.

I got to the root of the problem!!!!! Kinda strange but not unheard of, the problem is where the ECU is located in the car! What happens is when it rains water can get into the fresh air ducts and drain onto the ECU!!! This creates several problems from shorting out the computer to several drivability problems! In my case what was happening was it made #2 and #4 injectors stay wide open! I replaced the ECU and unfortunatly I temporarly relocated it and everything has been fine!!!! I need to find a way to keep the water from getting to the ECU!!!!! Any sugestions????

Need to do some kind of pre-fab work I would think. I'm not sure what kind of room you have to work with but don't make it too tight where overheating the ECU becomes a problem. Not sure where the water comes on it but you might be able to recreate the leakage by having some pouring some water in and you watching to see where it goes. I would use a marine caulk or Ureathane to seal it.
