Mercedes Benz W202 C180 won't start

I have a C180 Mercedes Benz W202 1999 model. The car has been giving me problems lately. I start the car normally without a problem in the morning, and then drive to work about 7km away. When i park the car for some time and i try to start it again, i get no response, the crack will be there but the engine wont turn. The pump will also be quiet. what could be the problem

If I understand correctly, when the engine will not start and you turn the key, you don't have anything happen? Meaning the engine will not even turn over and try to start?

So, when you turn the key, nothing happens or does the engine turn over and just not fire?
