Engine Performance problem
2001 Mercedes Benz SLK320 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 90,000 miles

I have a 2001 SLK 320 and am thinking of either trading or fizxing up the one I have. Is it possible for me to replace the engine completely? What does that cost? Is that a way for me to keep my car but have a new car as far as mileage goes?

Your idea of fixing the car to keep it going or as you say to make a new car is a bit more involved than just doing the engine, you must consider the wear and tear on the transmission, suspension, steering, diff and brakes, all these are just as old as the engine and if you do the engine and what i feel will be an expensive cost(i do not have to hand prices) but you must consider the rest off the car, if you do the engine are you prepared to spend a considerable amount of money again if the old transmission need o/hauling in a few years time? same with diff, suspension, etc, so have a good thing about what you really want as any re build will not be isolated to the engine if you want to keep the car for some time.
