oil light came on checked oil was down 2 qts filled up oil light is still on how come

Do you hear any type of knocking noises coming from inside the engine?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge if normal replace the oil pressure sending unit abnormal could mean oil pump or engine bearings
