mercedes 1986 190d

I recently bought a injector pump for a 1986 mercedes 190d.
my machanic fitted the part , but the car is not running well , i was told i need to have the correct timing codes, can anybody help??? I did contact my local mercedes dealer, and was told to post the question on this site.

sounds like the mechanic got to pump in one tooth off, check the marks on the pump, they should mach up to the mark on the block, for the initial setup, then of course it will need a fine tuning by an expert, that's me.
