For the past couple of weeks I've noticed that my 1980 Mercedes Benz A/C has been having some problems. It appears that sometimes the air con will blows cold air and at times air coming from the A/C vent giving nothing but just blower.

I had the car subjected for leak testing but no leak was found. Additionally, compressor was also tested and found to be in good working condition. I also had freon (R-14A) charged couple of months ago.

Typically the problem happens whenever I drove past 100 km/hr and seems that the A/C losses it coolness. It also appears that whenever I set the A/C controller to Max, after quite sometime the cold air coming from the vent seems to disappear. In order to restore coldness, I need to shutoff the A/C for several minutes and re-started it again.

Also, I noticed that during high noon (location - Asia Pacific), my A/C can't seem to give enough coolness unlike if I'm starting it early morning or at night.

Any thoughts on the issue I'm having?

Thanks in advance.

check to see if the evap core is freezing...if so change the pressure cycling switch. Only recharge with 134A
