2002 Other Mercedes Benz Models Front passenger side window

Hi ,

The front passenger side windows goes down , but does not come up. I tried using the the switch on driver door and switch on non driving door .. but still it does not work. Then I tried to bring up windows using the car remote by pressing down the lock button for some time, all other windows close but this one does not.

Please help. I want to know is the motor or the regulator problem ? How will I know which one is problematic. I figured out how to open the door panel of front side, but dont know how to open the window motor/regulator.... any pictures of manual to fix it would be usefull

Another thing I wanted to add that when I press the button to close the window , it makes the clicking sound. (Tic Tic)

If you here a ticking sound the motor is working. More than likely you have a failed regulator. The motor would not be allowing the window to lower if it were dead and it would not be ticking either. Hdere is the thing about MB regulators, they are riveted in and you will need to drill out all rivets and will need an air riveter to install the new rivets. Do you have this equipment? Let me know and I will walk you through the replacement process.

Yes I know how to do it. But I have a question. If regulator has the problem then shud'nt it happen every time. Why does the window go up and down after 500 times of try ...

Can it be something else ?

It usually will happen every time but if the cables are binding on a roller or have slipped off a roller you may get a little function every now and again as the cables have time to sit and relax the pressure on them. If you know your switch is good and the motor is runningh the regulator is going to be your problem. What I would suggest is taking the door panel off, leaving the window switch connected and watch and listen to the regulator as you try to roll it up. If you here the motor running but no movement watch the regulator for binding. Also with the window switch not pushed grab the regulator and try and feel the tension on the regulator cables. If the cables are very tight then something is bound in the regulator. Really the window systems are very good on this vehicle and the only problems usually seen with these windows is either a worn out motor or failed regulator. In fact in my 6 years with Benz I can't think of any other components I have replaced other than these two and switches to fix window issues.
