2000 C230 Gauge Cluster

My gauge cluster only half illuminates my numbers (ie Mileage, Temperature, Time) can anyone out there tell me if this is a bad LED or a relay? It is driving me crazy especially since I take lots of long trips.

i have a 98 c230 and i could hardly read the odometer because it was very dim. i was able to take the dash cluster out with little problem and it turned out that one of the many cluster light bulbs was blown. once replaced, all is good
