1990 Other Mercedes Benz Models

Shouldnt have to replace the lifters. Is it oiling the top end of the engine? Did you compare head gaskets to be sure there arent any differences? If it is oiling the top, I would let it run for a while to see if they pump back up. Did you do an oil change at the same time?

I,ll answer your questions as they are posted.
Since water entered oil pan ( due to head heat distortion ) it got mixed and blended with engine oil and in any case had to be changed. In the same time the oil filter has been changed new.
The head gasket has been checked and compared to the old one. Both head gaskets (old and new ) are Mercedes original Head gaskets. The followers did oil on top while cranking engine and entire top was lubricated trough top oil manifold or oiler.After checking oil flow, valve train was cowered and engine started and immediately noise started. Several time engine was stopped running and restarted for longer time until coolant temperature reached normal level ( 82 dgr C ) then stopped. The oil change was done prior engine start.
Is it possible that upper part of head has remained warped and the camshaft is biding in cam bearings ??
I am planning to get new hydraulic lifters. Some car dealer mechanics suggested that as possible
cure.

I suppose it is possible if the machine shop didnt check the cam to see if it spun freely in the head. I have seen lifters that once removed wouldnt pump back up, but it is rare. It is a Benz, so expensive will come with the territory
